BART to HEART 2012

Dearest citizens of the World, community in the Bay Area and beyond,

May this message find you healing our collective wounds with the balm of courage and love.

Moved by love, for more than two years –here are a couple of stories: Occupy BART to HEART and Excuse Me!— people from different backgrounds and colors of skin, have been siting to be in receptive silence –or meditation or silent prayer or contemplation or any name/practice you feel comfortable with– for an hour on the last Thursday of each month on the platform of the Fruitvale BART station. The same platform where our 22 year old brother Oscar Grant was killed by BART police officer brother Johannes Mehserle in January 1, 2009.

With the volition to foster the healing of our community in East Oakland and beyond, and the banner: “I’m Oscar Grant and my life matters” we invite you to join us this coming Thursday Nov 29 from 7pm to 8pm on the platform of the Fruitale BART station.

Some of us will gather at 6:45pm at the entrance of the Fruitvale BART station and some others will be already sitting in receptive silence at the platform. Bring a cushion and some warm clothes since the winter is approaching on this part of the Planet.

We envision a public transportation free of guns and where we take care of each other. But how to make it happen? How to Disobey with Great Love in the face of so much structural violence? In this article: FREE BART! we shared some pragmatic ideas.

In the meantime –and preparing for the fourth anniversary of the physical departure of our brother Oscar– we keep improving our ability to reach a union of all hearts by challenging a pollution-violence based economy and system with courage, lovingkindness and joy.

If you feel inspired to join us this month, feel free to spread the word as well and

If you really work for liberation, stop paying for war. Love your opponents, you don’t need to like them. Disobey with Great Love. Be informed and do it beautifully.

In radical love,

Pancho                           Fruitvale, Oakland, California, Earth November 2012.
